Kristen Stanton is a seasoned professional with a strong background in counseling and mental health services in educational settings. She is certified in New York State as a School Counselor and holds a Master of Science and Certificate of Advanced Studies in Counseling & Psychological Services from Oswego State University, along with a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Community Schools from Binghamton University. Kristen has extensive experience as the Director of School & Youth Initiatives at the NYS Office of Mental Health Suicide Prevention Center, where she oversees statewide suicide prevention programs and manages multiple grant initiatives, including those funded by GLS and CDC. Her leadership includes co-leading the LGBTQ+ and Schools and Youth Subgroup of the NYS Suicide Prevention Council, emphasizing inclusive strategies for supporting at-risk youth. Previously, Kristen served as Program Manager of the Suicide Safety in Schools program at Contact Community Services in Onondaga County, where she developed a comprehensive mental health and wellness program for school districts and higher education in the county. She has also excelled as a Student Assistance Counselor, providing counseling, crisis intervention, and educational workshops on adolescent issues and substance use at Fowler High School in Syracuse and Cicero North Syracuse High School.
