Dr. Sheila Clonan is a New York State Licensed Psychologist in private practice, specializing in the assessment of students with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning disabilities. A permanently certified school psychologist with over thirty years of experience in public schools, higher education, and private practice, Dr. Clonan began her career managing a reading research project under Dr. Benita Blachman in collaboration with Drs. Sally and Bennett Shaywitz at the Yale Child Study Center, investigating the effects of intensive phonologically-based intervention on reading outcomes and brain organization. She subsequently served on the faculties of Syracuse University and Colgate University, where she taught courses in learning disabilities, reading, and neurodiversity. Together with her co-presenter, Dr. Michelle Storie, Dr. Clonan is the author of the recently published Assessing Dyslexia in Schools: Empowering Practitioners through Reading Science with Guilford Press, as well as more than a dozen peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and is a founding Board Member of The Reading League.
